hi, i can't define the term "leadership" as i have yet to meet or work with anyone who can lead. But i can list out the don'ts in a leader. Some is not from my own point of view, i have gather it from the conversation of my colleagues & summarise it.

.Have reasons that can convince your colleagues to learn, not to use force to make colleagues to follow.

.Don’t throw temper, just because you are a bad temper person. This is office not your house.

.Don’t give ideals or suggestion just for the sake of it and to show boss you are smart.

.Don’t pretend to work hard when the boss is in.

.Don’t disappear ¾ of a day when the boss is out station.

.If not sure of certain issues please ask, we won’t laugh at you.

.Practice what you preach.

.Please come in early and not go home early.

.Is good to treat the office as your second home but that doesn’t mean your family have to treat it the same too. (Please keep family at home & not bring them in during the office hours.)

.Be brave to admit you are wrong.

.Is not a proud thing to admit that you don’t understand mandarin when you are Chinese. Is not too late to learn even if you are in your 40s. (If you work in a company which deal with china projects)

.Please mean it when you want to listen to us. Not listen for 1 minute and talk for the next 29minutes.

.Don’t bear grudges against colleagues when dealing with office related matters.

.Don’t try to win back at the colleagues just because they are right at the last argument.

.Don’t shout at colleagues when the client calls to complain. Listen to our side of story first.

.When need to discuss projects with colleagues, be considerate to check if they are rushing anything. Not just because you are free and want to talk immediately. (Unless is a matter of life and death)

.Don’t show it out that you are a cheapo person, when there is free wine.

.Don’t force colleagues to go drinking, when they say no respect their answer.

.Is no big deal if you sent email after midnight from home. ( compare to some who camp and work in office for few days)

.Don’t boast that you can get double of what you are getting now and stay here because of the challenges. (I’m sure the company who can pay you double will have double of the challenges.)

.When going for overseas meeting and site inspection, please make sure to get all the information and photos taken. Don’t make colleagues to get information again from the client. And not to go there for free travel (business class seat) free food & drinking.

.Please show good example by not losing lap top on overseas trip. (when none will email to you & there is something call mobile phone)
